VANCOUVER, BC – March 6, 2007 –Blenz
the Canadian Coffee Company Ltd. attended its first international latte
art competition with exceptional result. Blenz Coffee Yaletown barista Luis Acosta finished in 4th place at
this year’s Millrock Latte Art Competition in the “free pour” category
at Coffee Fest Chicago 2007. This year’s competition brought together
twenty of North America’s finest
baristi going head-to-head in an exciting display of espresso mastery.
“This
is an enormous victory for Blenz in the international coffee
community,” said Ed
Kelly,
Blenz Coffee Yaletown franchisee. “I know Luis
was well prepared but now it’s official. We serve the best latte in Canada.”
The Millrock Latte Art Competition features some of the country’s best
baristi competing for the coveted title in a rich and effervescent
display of their coffee creativity. Creating these beautiful patterns
requires an advanced level of expertise and requires that the barista
have a handle on all the scientific factors that come together
resulting in a drink that tastes nearly as good as fresh ground coffee
smells. A latte finished in this manner is visually stunning, and
captured within is something incredibly special.
“This
is just the start of something we are really excited about,” said George Moen, President of Blenz Coffee.
“Blenz’s showing in this competition is just the start of where Blenz
is heading with its retail operation.”
