Cirque du Soleil Seeks Divine
Intervention!

When
Cirque de Soleil called Divine
Vines to create floral
pieces for their opening night of Corteo, we immediately
immersed ourselves in research to gain inspiration for the designs.
With a deep colour palette of turquoise blue, hints of gold and an Old
Italian theme, that was enough to get the juices flowing.
We decided to use chabby chic urns to get a Tuscan look and then
build our pieces using yellow and eggplant calla lilies, yelloween
lilies, button mums for that chartreuse punch and draping foliage and
vines.
Corteo is based on a clown picturing his own funeral taking place in a
carnival atmosphere, watched over by quietly caring angels. The show
highlights the strength and fragility of the clown, as well as his wisdom
and kindness, to illustrate the portion of humanity that is within each
of us. Corteo is showing in Vancouver
from June 12 to July 20th 2008.
